Introduction
The Attention to Logistics programme will establish a bursary scheme and create training facilities specifically targeted at the veteran community, helping ex-servicemen, women and their families back into work in the logistics sector. Delivered by Tilbury on the Thames Trust in association with the Port of Tilbury Logistics Academy and the Royal British Legion, the bursary and facilities will create tailored opportunities for veterans to develop their skills and potential. With the Port of Tilbury expanding and significant warehouse investments being made in the Thames Gateway, the number of jobs in the Port alone is projected to increase from 3,500 to 9,000. The Attention to Logistics programme will create improved pathways to these new opportunities for veterans whose military service make them well suited for careers in Logistics.
Veteran Families
The Attention to Logistics Programme is for veterans and their families to access a menu of tailored training opportunities to help build new careers. Building on a 130-year heritage of supporting generations of local families to be part of the collective success story that is the Port of Tilbury, the Tilbury on the Thames Trust will continue this tradition with veteran communities and their families. Like the military, the Port setting offers an environment of comradeship and shared endeavour – a familiar context for veterans.
