Back on Track Proposal

Help us to get the Riverside Station Back on Track!

We are working towards a February 2024 submission to the National Lottery Heritage Fund, asking for £3.4M to create open up year round access to the Grade II* Riverside Station with a new café space and outdoor seating and creative lets, alongside an exhibition to tell the stories of those who lived, worked and travelled through Tilbury. If successful in securing investment, we anticipate these works to be completed in 2026.

Alongside these building works, we will also run an education programme with schools alongside skills and training opportunities for heritage, transport and logistics, and a public event programme. This could include farmers markets, performances and audio visual installations within the vast station space. There will also be a local community fund for groups to pitch their own ideas regarding how to animate the building. These elements would be funded until 2028.

We have developed initial proposals, which we will be testing with the public throughout September and early October. We will use the proposals to refine the ideas in advance of a second round of public and stakeholder engagement in November and December 2024.
